UK eVisa Photo Requirements
Your eVisa lives in a UKVI account, so the photo is uploaded as a file rather than posted. The rules are a little tighter than for a passport, and they're mostly about the file.
The file

- A JPG or JPEG file, between 50KB and 6MB
- Vertical (portrait) orientation

- In colour, clear and in focus
- No filters, effects or retouching
- Not a scan or a photo of another photo
- Taken recently, within the last month

- Plain, light-coloured background
- Just you in the frame, with no shadows on your face or the wall
- Face forwards, looking straight at the camera
Expression and accessories
- Plain expression with your mouth closed
- Eyes open and clear, with no hair across them
- No headwear unless it's religious or medical, with your face visible
- Glasses only without glare, and no sunglasses

No. Your eVisa is digital, so the photo is uploaded to your UKVI account and nothing is posted. That's why the usual 35 by 45mm print size doesn't apply to a UK eVisa photo. The details for immigration photos are in our eVisa requirements article.
Plain and light-coloured, with no patterns and no shadows falling on it. A blank wall in daylight is usually enough. Pure white can be a poor choice for a UK eVisa photo because pale skin and light hair blend into it, which is explained in our piece on background colours.

Yes, a phone camera is fine. Just don't hold it at arm's length, because the lens is too close and distorts your face.
